How time flies – the Pendennis Community Centre has been open for 7 months now thanks to our team of amazing volunteers who have turned a decommissioned site into a welcoming, clean and safe community centre. Every week over 200 people already use the community centre for a selection of fitness and wellbeing activities and since opening we have hosted over 700 classes, meetings or events for a diverse range of community groups. In addition, the cafe has been open every morning serving teas, coffees, cakes and other treats to the community.
But that’s not the full aim of course – whilst running our “meanwhile” operations, we’re also focused on the future and our need for a pool which is what forms our “future focus”. Our trustees have recently shared our design proposals with Falmouth Town Council and the Falmouth Civic Society for a multi purpose community hub and healthy living centre with a 25m swimming pool at its heart – and we will be sharing and discussing them at our latest Pendennis Community Meeting on Tuesday 16 April at 6.30pm at Pendennis Community Centre (formerly known as Ships and Castles).
We’d love to see you there, please come along and participate.
